Circuit Breaker
A circuit breaker is the safety switch in your home's electrical panel that protects your HVAC system from damage caused by an electrical overload or short circuit. It is vital to match the breaker size to the Maximum Overcurrent Protection (MOP) listed on your unit’s technical data sheet. For high-capacity 48000 BTU systems, a dedicated double-pole breaker is almost always required. Improperly sized breakers can lead to frequent tripping or, worse, electrical fires. We recommend that all our multi-zone systems be installed with the proper electrical safeguards by a licensed professional. Understanding your home’s electrical capacity is a key step before you shop all ducted or ductless solutions.
